We have been using Active Query Builder for over a year and must say that both the product and support have been outstanding!
We chose Active Query Builder due to its flexibility and features, but have been truly pleased by its power and hidden capabilities. The Active Query Builder components provides the ability to allow our end users to visual build SQL statements for reports, dashboards, etc. It works with many different databases - and as our tool is meant to work with multiple databases - this feature was of particular importance.
The components provide not only the ability to connect with many databases and generate native SQL for each one, but to also deal with other connections like ADO, ODBC, etc. - and use standard ANSI SQL statement generation. Our tool also uses custom SQL extensions and Active Query Builder was able to handle them and still allow for easy visual query building. The support offered by the Active Query Builder team was second to none. They were able to answer all technical issues within 24 hours - and provided various product enhancements in very short timeframes.
What was a pleasant surprise is that the Visual Query Builder component is a series of independent components that are put together into one easy to use tool. What this means is that you not only get the full visual query building tool - but also the various subcomponents and useful database independent routines. This has allowed us to provide our end users with full database schema maps for any database type, visual representations of the data tables in the datasets used in our application, and more information about the tables, fields and views they are working with then otherwise would be possible.
The only area I think that could be improved is slightly better documentation on each part and how to use some of the more 'hidden' routines. However, with the level of support that ActiveDBSoft offer - it is not a problem.
In summary Active Query Builder provides excellent components, great support and a very flexible feature set. It has allowed us to provide features to our end users that I did not think would be possible in the first release of our new tools and in a timeframe that was much shorter than planned. I would recommend that anyone dealing with databases in the .Net world should be aware of this component and its capabilities!”
I am building a feature-rich in-house application to migrate competitors databases to our product through our Web Services API. I am using AQB to allow queries to be built more efficiently (quicker) and columns to be easily extracted to be able to easily map these table columns to Web Service Elements programmatically and with visual drag and drop. We are very experienced with writing manual SQL but that is tedious and requires a lot of copy, paste, and typos. AQB will eliminate most of this and allow easy accurate extraction of output columns programmatically.”

I had many situations where I required some easy tool for end-users to create queries and reports.
