Active Query Builder for .NET 3.7 brings support for .NET Core 3.1, new SQL syntaxes and further UI improvements.

We are glad to present to your attention the new version of Active Query Builder for .NET WinForms and WPF Editions. Using it you will deal with routine SQL tasks much faster.

The free evaluation version is instantly available for download on the download page. Customers can download the full version in the Customer's area.

What's new in version 3.7?

  • Overall improvements
    • Support for .Net Core 2.2 and 3.1 support has been added.
    • Support for Snowflake DB SQL syntax has been added.
    • Initial support for QuickBooks (QODBC) SQL syntax has been added.
    • The installer creates a local NuGet repository for easier switching between different versions.
  • UI improvements
    • The component indicates the path to subqueries in a new way.
The Query Navigation Bar indicates the path to subqueries in a new way. Switching to a subquery, the user sees breadcrumbs displaying the path from the main query to the current subquery; subqueries that don't belong to the current subquery aren't displayed now. Moving back to the root makes all subqueries visible again.
    • The SubQuery Navigation Bar displays more info about subquery usage at one sight: its query part, operator, correlatedness.
    • The user's job of adding general aggregate functions (with the "*" parameter) has been improved. Now the user can select an aggregate function right in the empty row of the Query Columns Grid.
    • Users now can create links from UI separately, indicating fields to start and finish a new link via the datasource field context menu.
    • The new panel is added to the top-right corner of the design pane to show or hide unused fields.
    • Metadata loading errors are displayed now via the notification bar.
  • API improvements
    • Metadata providers: The new property CommandTimeout allows for changing the timeout for metadata loading queries.
    • The new event MetadataContainer.MetadataLoadingError is added to take additional actions on error executing queries to retrieve database schema.
    • The new property QueryBuilder.BehaviorOptions.AllowMessageTypes is added to determine the types of messages displayed in the notification bar.
    • Three new events are added to the CriteriaBuilder control: NeedEditorForValue, NeedCustomLookupButton, NeedCustomLookupControl.
    • They allow for using custom editors for values of specific fields or data types.
    • The new event to track changes in the Favorites folder is added: QueryBuilder.FavouritesChanged. (in the Professional version only)

Testimonials

We have been using Active Query Builder for over a year and must say that both the product and support have been outstanding!

We chose Active Query Builder due to its flexibility and features, but have been truly pleased by its power and hidden capabilities. ...

In summary Active Query Builder provides excellent components, great support and a very flexible feature set. It has allowed us to provide features to our end users that I did not think would be possible in the first release of our new tools and in a timeframe that was much shorter than planned. I would recommend that anyone dealing with databases in the .Net world should be aware of this component and its capabilities!
