The trial version of Active Query Builder 2 .NET Edition Beta is available.

We're glad to announce the availability of the Trial version of Active Query Builder .NET Edition 2.0. You can request the Trial version at the download page now.

Important note: There are many breaking changes in this release and for now it can not be installed together with the old version, so you'll have to install the new and old versions in turn. A better way is to use a virtual machine for testing.

What's new in the Active Query Builder .NET Edition 2.0 since the first public release?

  • DevExpress controls user interface is made.
  • Metadata providers for all previously supported database servers are made.
  • Sorting in the Database Schema Tree and the Add Object Form is made. See the SortingType property in appropriate options groups.
  • The new demo projects are added to illustrate programmatic modification of the Metadata Structure Tree and working without the Design Pane.
  • Command-line utility to convert metadata XML files from old format (version 1.x) to new is made. (XmlConverter.exe)
  • The new method are added to retrieve all metadata structure items recursively: MetadataStructureItem.GetAllItems and MetadataStructureItem.GetAllMetadataItems. See the Help for details.
  • The installer is fixed to register the Help files correctly.

We have been using Active Query Builder for over a year and must say that both the product and support have been outstanding!

We chose Active Query Builder due to its flexibility and features, but have been truly pleased by its power and hidden capabilities. ...

In summary Active Query Builder provides excellent components, great support and a very flexible feature set. It has allowed us to provide features to our end users that I did not think would be possible in the first release of our new tools and in a timeframe that was much shorter than planned. I would recommend that anyone dealing with databases in the .Net world should be aware of this component and its capabilities!
