We are glad to present to your attention the new version of Active Query Builder for .NET WinForms and WPF Editions. Using it you will deal with routine SQL tasks much faster.

The free evaluation version is instantly available for download on the download page. Customers can download the full version in the Customer's area.

What's new in version 3.6?

  • Faster SQL building with new ways to navigate and edit queries
    • The indication of sorting, aggregation, and conditions for a column in the object field list on Design Pane has been made.
    • The new way to define sorting, grouping, aggregations, and sorting via the context menu of the datasource field list has been introduced. It also helps to switch to the existing condition in the Query Columns grid.
    • It's possible now to define a set of ready-to-use conditions for specific fields and data types for instant applying via the datasource field list context menu.
    • The user can switch now to sub-queries in WHERE and HAVING parts of the query using a button next to a corresponding field in the datasource field list.
  • Query Columns Grid improvements
    1. Inline suggestions:
      • Expression column suggests fields from tables in the current sub-query, grouped by table.
      • Logical operators are suggested in condition columns, "true" and "false" constants for boolean expressions like EXISTS sub-queries.
    2. Multiple rows operations
      • The user can select multiple rows by mouse and reorder by dragging or delete/reorder them using keyboard shortcuts or the context menu.
      • The user can insert an empty row by dragging the last blank row to an arbitrary position or using the context menu.
      • The user can perform appropriate actions on columns by right-clicking on column headers (clear all sorting, etc.).
    3. Keyboard shortcuts
Alt+Arrow downDisplay drop-down list in appropriate columns
Alt+Enter, Shift+F2Open the multiline expression editor where it is possible
      Shift+Arrow up/downMultiple rows selection
      Ctrl+Arrow up/downGrid scrolling
Ctrl+Alt+Arrow up/downMovement of selected columns up and down
  • Other important improvements
    • Support for the Right-to-left oriented layout has been made.
    • Hebrew and Dutch localizations have been added; other localizations are updated.
    • SQL Text Editor: On-demand metadata loading for suggestions has been improved.
    • DevExpress controls UI: Full support of skins, including dark themes. All custom controls now obey skin colors.
    • Query Transformer: The ability to add grouping (GROUP BY section) to the initial query has been made.
    • The programmer now has full control over the context menus.
    • Last, but not the least, the ability to consolidate metadata from different connections to use in one SQL query.

Testimonials

We have been using Active Query Builder for over a year and must say that both the product and support have been outstanding!

We chose Active Query Builder due to its flexibility and features, but have been truly pleased by its power and hidden capabilities. ...

In summary Active Query Builder provides excellent components, great support and a very flexible feature set. It has allowed us to provide features to our end users that I did not think would be possible in the first release of our new tools and in a timeframe that was much shorter than planned. I would recommend that anyone dealing with databases in the .Net world should be aware of this component and its capabilities!
