Active Query Builder .NET Edition 1.3 released

We're glad to announce the new minor version of Active Query Builder .NET Edition. You can download the free version or request trial at the download page.

What's new in the Active Query Builder .NET Edition 1.3?

  • End-user Interface Improvements
    • Improved usability of building GROUP BY/HAVING clauses with the new criteria list grouping style. Old style is available through the CriteriaListOptions.UseMSStyleGrouping property.
    • Ability to customize or hide context menus using the ValidateContextMenu event is added.
    • The new AutoSizeCriteriaListColumns property allows you to set width of criteria list columns automatically after the query parsing.
  • SQL Parsing Improvements
    • Sybase Syntax and Metadata providers are added. *
    • Ability to convert queries between dialects is implemented. *
    • The new ParsingErrorOnUnknownObjects property instructs query builder to throw an exception in case of existense of unknown objects in the query (objects that are not listed in the Metadata container).
    • Fixed minor problems with constants in the DB2 syntax. *
  • Other Improvements and Bugfixes
    • The new QueryBuilder.CriteriaListOptions property is implemented to group all the criteria list related options in one place.
PLEASE NOTE that some properties have been moved from QueryBuilder so you may need to correct your source code.
    • Now the properties MetadataTreeOptions.TablesNodeText, MetadataTreeOptions.TablesNodeText, MetadataTreeOptions.ViewsNodeText are applied to the Add Object form either.
    • Several minor bugs are fixed.
Note for those who analyze the query data programmatically: numerous changes in the CriteriaItem class. (Please see the updated Non-visual demo sample for details)

* - these features will be available in the Standard version of Active Query Builder only.

We have been using Active Query Builder for over a year and must say that both the product and support have been outstanding!

We chose Active Query Builder due to its flexibility and features, but have been truly pleased by its power and hidden capabilities. ...

In summary Active Query Builder provides excellent components, great support and a very flexible feature set. It has allowed us to provide features to our end users that I did not think would be possible in the first release of our new tools and in a timeframe that was much shorter than planned. I would recommend that anyone dealing with databases in the .Net world should be aware of this component and its capabilities!
